THE 5.15 TO BALHAM QUINTET.

We were out on the decking

The August Sun was just setting

And for a bet I was doing a set

With the five fifteen to Balham quintet.

The sounds sounded alright

We played long into the cool night

When some rotten sods who were sat up in the Gods

Started a fire and I’m not a liar

Smoke billowed out up went a shout

“Buckets of water”

People did what they oughta and filed out in a line

Some gave me a sign and said the music was fine.

You set the night alight

My throat went tight there were tears in my sight.

I just might play music again

But next time out in the rain.
