It always rains

I built my castle in the sands and there it stands, a monument to every dream I filled a bucket from,
along the promenade a man sat in an ice cream van and clapped his hands,
a turret fell.
A wish thrown in the wishing well.

Auntie Jenny went to spend a penny in the penny slot arcade, where broken spokes of reels in dreams are made and lost.
I,
like my castle start to dissolve, a revolving wheel and the tide turns to steal me away.
Castles made from sand can only last a day
I should have realised that.
